A Fine Pair of Meissen Groups

Emblematic the four seasons spring, summer, autumn and winter.

 

Group 1 emblematic the spring and winter.

On a round rococo base a putto in standing position, holding flowers in each hand. In front of his belly he is wearing a flower basket. He is emblematic the spring.

Next to him a putto in sitting position, wearing a purple coat, lined with fur. On his feet he wears ice skates. He is warming his hand over a fire. He is emblematic the winter. In the center of the group a tree.

 

Group 2 emblematic the summer and autumn.

On a rococo base a putto sitting on ears of corn. In his right hand a sickle. A bird is sitting on his other hand. He is emblematic the summer.

Next to him a putto holding grapes in his hand. A billy goat tries to eat the grapes. He is emblematic the autumn.

 

Both groups executed in fine polychrome colors with gold.
