Meissen Vase with Snake Handles

 

Ovoid body over a round foot. To each side snake handles, arises from the shoulder of the body and ends on the flaring mouth.

The body decorated to both sides with fruits.

 

Show side:

A lemon, a plum, grapes, rosehips and currants.

 

Reverse:

Two peaches, grapes and blueberries.

 

Fine polychrome decoration, gold decoration.

Design of the shape: Ernst August Leuteritz in 1853.
